Jimmy Kimmel? Jon Stewart? Even maybe the countdown king, Casey Kasem? Nope.
Regis Philbin to fill in for Dick Clark on New Year's Eve
Regis Philbin will fill in as host of ABC's "New Year's Rockin' Eve 2005" for Dick Clark, who suffered a mild stroke last week, the network announced Monday.
Philbin, co-host of the syndicated "Regis & Kelly," has made subbing for ailing entertainers something of a specialty, coming to David Letterman's aid when Letterman underwent heart bypass surgery in 2000 and recovered from an eye infection in 2003.
Can we all be thankful it isn't Ryan Seacrest...or that the show isn't being retitled "George Bush's Shock & Awe New Year's Eve?

TELL me you're not expressing regret that it's not Jimmy Kimmel?!?!?!!??
What TF is the DEAL with Jimmy Kimmel? Does he posess some extraordinary talent (comedic, charismatic, whatever...) that only people with a certain gene can decipher? Because I was obviously, tragically born without that gene!! What is this guy's supposed appeal?
I had a bus boy last night at Applebee's grunt out the soup specials per the format, and he sounded like he was reciting his to-do list by rote... HE had more personality than Jimmy Kimmel!!! Okay, so maybe he's not Robin Williams, but is this some kind of Generation Y thing, where one has to be so tragically-detached, as to be BORING, and I'm just not hip enough to get it?
