The Democratic-turned-independent senator said he knows his opposition to the government-run option will probably foil the Democrats' efforts to pass the bill.
"There will be no shot at 60 votes, because I'm not the only one," he said.
No, Joe. There's no shot at 60 votes not because of YOU, but because Ted Kennedy is dead. Dial down the ego, you gremlin.
If any Democrat in Washington has any guts to step into Kennedy's shoes, please do so now. We need Ted Kennedys, and we need them big and loud.

When a conservative Democrat takes the time to promise that he will not "kill old people," you really know Democrats are struggling to maintain their footing on healthcare reform.
So it's pretty stunning that Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), a leading Blue Dog Democrat, felt it necessary to make that pledge on CNN today.
"I will never vote for a bill to kill old people, period," he said.
Well, then...DON'T. Considering there is no such thing, you sorry sack of crap...

The Blue Dog Democrats - the useless and out-of-step wing of our party - show why they loves them those Republican ideals.
Nearly 54 percent of the Blue Dog PAC’s haul this year comes from the energy, financial services and health care industries, up from 45 percent in 2004, according to analysis of CQ MoneyLine data by the Center for Public Integrity.
This is what we're up against. Still. Because some people never learn.
A new Franklin & Marshall poll in Pennsylvania finds Sen. Arlen Specter's (D-PA) job approval rating dropped from 52% in March to 34% in June. However, even more troubling for the senator is that the proportion of state residents who believe he deserves re-election has declined from 40% to 28%.
Among Democrats, 43% say Specter deserves re-election, with 39% saying they want someone else.
In a primary match up with Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA), Specter leads 33% to 13%, but a very large 48% remain undecided.
Time for Sestak to make his move.
His "defection" is such bullshit.
I couldn't help but notice at the end business last night, Harry Reid still found it in his sweet little heart to heap praise on John McCain. Time for this again.
