Racism in the Obama Era: The All-White Basketball League

This was bound to happen...not the basketball part, but the "all-white" part in which guarantees of good behavior fly like the racism.

You may think you've seen it all. Still, you're not gonna believe this.

The All-American Basketball Alliance announced in a news release Sunday evening that it intends to start its inaugural season in June and hopes Augusta will be one of 12 cities with a team.

"Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," the statement said.

Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver, who has publicly expressed his support for minor league teams in the past, said he would not do the same for this team.

Don "Moose" Lewis, the commissioner of the AABA, said the reasoning behind the league's roster restrictions is not racism.

"There's nothing hatred about what we're doing," he said. "I don't hate anyone of color. But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here's a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like."

Lewis said he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of "street-ball" played by "people of color." He pointed out recent incidents in the NBA, including Gilbert Arenas' indefinite suspension after bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room, as examples of fans' dissatisfaction with the way current professional sports are run.

"Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands or grabbing their crotch?" he said. "That's the culture today, and in a free country we should have the right to move ourselves in a better direction."

And in a free country, we have the right to call you a racist douchebag, Moose. Nice way to instill values into non-white children nationwide.

Words escape me in regards to what I feel toward what I perceive are a bunch of chuckleheads whose arrogance is in disproportionate to their skills.
The fact that they need to segregate themselves from the rest of society by their very name and the type of game they are playing speaks volumes on what their really about. Mediocre players with marginal talent who wish to ride a "fear of a black planet" planet platform to gain noteriety.
I admit that my b-ball skills are to say the least lame, but if heaven forbid this league were to get off the ground, I would go all out to get my game on to join a team if only to get a chance to get a crack of these guys.
Hell, I'd even play their "emo" version of the game. If you wish to play racial one-up, I'd rather settle it on a ballcourt than a battlefield.

I admit I'm a fat black loser, but if there was any incentive to get in shape, it's this. I would bust my tail to get up to speed to play these guys since they feel that they can't cut it with the real thing (NBA) and have to play B-ball lite.
This is an attention grab, but all the same if they got the balls, I'll bring the game.

Last rant. I hope if I have to hit the hardwood to give and most likely get the smackdown, there will be other enlightened humans on the court to make sure these troglodytes don't get one point, and leave them crying in their silly pointed hoods.

I'm a glutton for punishment. While I believe (big sad) there is a audience for these guys, I wonder if they would be parting with the serious bucks to get this trainwreck off the ground. It's one thing to stand out in the mob and hold signs and screech your opus to racial pride, it's another to fork over your paycheck to someone just because you hold similar views. This will be a case of money calling the shots. There may be thugs and fools in the NBA, but what the AABA will bring to the table will be much, much worse.

I hope a child of Arab immigrants born in the U.S. tries out for this team. They will be forced to tweak the "caucasian" requirement into something more Aryan.
