...but since there are laws which say restaurant food cannot be called "home made" unless it's made in a home...and laws which prohibits you from making "lowest prices in town" claims if they're not...
...there should be some regulation of television which stipulates you cannot call yourself a "news channel" when all you dispense is one very strong ideology.
An ideology which gives politicians the idea that being friendly to said network means success in the party that network is aligned with.
It'll never happen because that party has become the biggest bunch of crybabies in the history of politics and no one has the balls to shut them up.
Not only does no one have the balls to shut them up, no one has the power. Even crackpots are covered by the First Amendment.
Also, by letting them be crackpots in full view of God and everybody, it drives home the point that they're crackpots. Back when I was in the advertising business, I worked for a smart guy who said, "There's no better way to kill a bad product than to advertise it." That's true for political ideas as well. If those ideas were somehow to be suppressed, it would add to their appeal, not subtract from it, and would make the suppressors the bad guys, which is what suppressors are.
There's poll data suggesting that the main effect of the Town Hall clown show of August was to convince people that conservatives are nuts. Le tthem call themselves a "news channel." The disconnect between what they say and how they act only helps to marginalize them.
